The top nominees of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® Malaysia 2002 award have been chosen by a independent panel of judges of leading figures from the local business community.

 

Encik Md. Nor Ahmad
Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange
 
En Md. Nor is the Deputy President of Exchange Operations of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange assisting the President in the day-to-day management of the Exchange in matters relating to Finance & Administration, Enforcement of Listing Requirements and Corporate & Legal Affairs. Before moving to this position, En Md. Nor had also held numerous other positions within the stock exchange.

Formerly attached to the Accountant General's Department, En Md. Nor had served in various governmental bodies. En Md. Nor holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Wellington and is a member of the Associate Chartered Accountant of New Zealand and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.@ Sept 02

Mr Jose Lopez
Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI)
 
Mr Jose Lopez is the President of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the current term and also the Vice-Chairman of the Swiss-Malaysian Business Association. Besides this, he also sits on the board of the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority.

He is the Managing Director of Nestlé Malaysia and the head of region (Malaysia and Singapore) for Nestlé. He received his degree in mechanical engineering from Switzerland. @ Sept 02

Y Bhg Dato’ Abd. Rahman Husin
Ministry of Entrepreneur Development
 
Dato’ Abd Rahman is the Deputy Secretary General (Entrepreneur) of the Ministry of Entrepreneurial Development. Prior to this position, Dato’ had held numerous positions in the civil service including Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysian Trade Commissioner to Koln (Germany), New York and Beijing and Chief Assistant Secretary at the Economic Planning Unit.

Dato’ Abd. Rahman holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the London School of Economics and a Masters of Science from Columbia University New York.@ Sept 02

Puan Sarina Karim
Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd.
 
Puan Sarina Karim is the Senior Vice-President of Technopreneur Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd., a body that supports and nurture information and communications technology start-ups under the Technopreneur Development Flagship. Pn. Sarina is also the Executive Director and CEO of Multimedia Super Corridor Venture Corporation Sdn. Bhd., which provides venture capital funding to information technology and multimedia small and medium-scale enterprises.

Prior to joining the Multimedia Development Corporation, she was a Deputy General Manager with Sime Darby. She holds a Masters degree in Mathematics and a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance.@ Sept 02

Mr Ho Kay Tat
The Edge Communications Sdn. Bhd.
 
A graduate in political science from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Mr Ho, who has 17 years of experience in journalism, began his career as a political writer at the New Straits Times group. In 1990, he joined Reuters and covered mainly economic, corporate and money market news.

He left Reuters to be the KL correspondent for the Singapore Business Times in 1994, where apart from reporting, he had a weekly column on Malaysia called "Market Matters". He joined The Edge as its Editor in 1996. He is now Editor-In-Chief of The Edge.@ Sept 02
